My first real radiocontact i made was in The Dutch army on fm in 1993. I was trained as an FM radio/telex operator and i also had to operate the power generator for the mobile set in the field. It ran on diesel. The smell of diesel never left my nose since.
After my year in the military service I did not do much with my radio knowledge.
Until a few years ago. I started with a basic course for marine radio communication which ultimately ended in a Marcom-A certificate which allows me to operate all HF/VHF-radio’s, telex and satellite equipment on any Dutch vessel.
After that I got more and more interested in Radio and studied for my novice-certificate. I succeeded for this in 2010. My callsign went from PD0K to PE0KThe. next challenge is to get the full license and after that start some CW.
